About us.

The role of the Animal Welfare Coalition of Alberta (AWC) is to facilitate animal welfare organizations to work together to provide strategic direction and leadership to promote responsible pet guardianship, to work together when addressing animal welfare to key community stakeholders and government bodies, and to represent a professional animal welfare community.

  • Standards for Membership

One of the key pillars of this group are our Standards for Membership which include animal welfare minimum standards. All members have agreed to meet or exceed standards for animal care, adoption transparency, management of volunteers and staff, governance and a
    Code of Conduct.

  • Public assurance

Members of the public who are interested in adopting an animal, surrendering an animal, volunteering or making a donation can be assured that our members meet minimum standards.

  • Membership

Membership is open to animal welfare organizations operating in Alberta and assisting with companion animals who meet and agree to adhere to the Standards of Membership and Code of Conduct. If you are interested in joining the AWC can send an email to info@awcab.ca.
